Examines the place of Catholic colleges and universities in the wider community of higher education in the United States, and the distinctiveness of institutions like Merrimack College. The life of St. Augustine of Hippo, the history of the Augustinian intellectual school, and an overview of Order of St. Augustine (which founded Merrimack in 1947) are also examined.

This tour of the campus attempts "to awaken minds and hearts" to the Augustinian tradition that permeates the campus. Founded by the Augustinian Friars of the Province of St. Thomas of Villanova, Merrimack's campus bears the imprint of their spiritual and educational legacy in the naming of buildings and various sites and monuments. What follows is an attempt to explain this legacy.

Impact: A Study of the Impact of Merrimack College on the Lower Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts and New Hampshire

The Impact study reflects principally the economic presence of Merrimack College in the lower Merrimack Valley. It is the result of long effort- eighteen months, to be precise- on the part of Professor Arland Charlton who conducted the study.
